Soul-loss
Soul-loss is the main source of unhappiness in Western society. When you suffer from emotional or traumatic memories and feel anxious, depressed, stressed, dissociated etcetera this generally is caused by soul-loss. You have lost the ability to master part of your soul potential, a necessity to experience well-being and harmony.
Soul is the unconscious field of ‘feeling’ including all memories of your life. When you experience unpleasant that in a subjective sense is too shattering or when the capacity to rationalize the experience is not yet fully developed as is the case during childhood, soul gets wounded. As a reaction one isolates the memory of the experience and tries to forget . This isolation is like a wall around everything that represents the experienced pain. In this isolated position however the experience continues to give the same impulses that caused the isolation. At the same time the isolated position makes it inaccessible for conscious intervention.
Especially isolations that were made in early childhood can be very disturbing. Parts of the soul are still linked to the life world, emotions and reactions of that small child. This explains why adults can suddenly react very childish when circumstances remind them (unconsciously) of the painful event.
In Shu’em Healing soul-loss can be treated in a relative short time. It makes use of wider states of consciousness where transformation can take place. By transforming the pain and emotions at the root of the problem, one experiences a more balanced state at all levels of experience.
Causes of soul-loss
All causes of soul-loss are subjective. Whereas a particular traumatic event can cause soul-loss, for another it is just a memory of a bad experience. There are however distinct symptoms that can indicate the presence of a soul-loss. Some causes that often lead to soul-loss in a child are:
- a problematical or unhappy childhood
- a change in environment, such as a change from city or from country, at an early age
- a difficult birth, separation from the mother as a baby, for instance in hospital, crèche or boarding school
- difficult family circumstances, divorce or death of a parent or meaningful other
- physical (sexual) abuse, emotional blackmail, particularly by the mother.
Some causes for soul-loss at a later age are:
- illnesses, accidents, chronic stress
- loss of a dear one, a traumatic divorce, problematic relationships
- frustration in personal or professional life
Soul-theft
A particular kind of soul-loss is so-called ’soul theft’. This takes place when somebody, in most cases a mother or a partner, ‘claims’ a part of the soul from the other, in other words claims an emotional commitment from the other. For the so-called ‘thief’ this always represents an attempt to compensate for her or his own soul-loss. Such a soul-theft should not been seen in terms of sin and guilt: it is a natural process that belongs to being human. Women more readily seek a solution for their own soul loss in a soul theft particularly from their children, while men will more readily seek compensation in an addiction to an activity. Both biological and social factors may be responsible for this phenomenon.
Problematic relations
A relation in which soul-theft is present is always problematic and heavily charged with conflicting feelings of guilt, duty, dependency, frustration, emotional blackmail, love and hate. It is also characteristic of such a soul theft that neither of the individuals involved is happy in it, but at the same time can not get rid of it or change it. A situation of soul theft does not cease when one of the partners in it dies. It may even become more obscure and more difficult to grasp.
Symptoms of soul-loss
In the western countries, soul loss is the single most common source of unhappiness. Soul-loss is a very serious affliction that may lead to a great variety of consequences. It may ruin your well-being in a profound way. In order to solve a soul loss the only way is being treated by a shaman who is capable of entering the required state of perception.
